Research access

Applications for research activities on the museum’s objects must be submitted to the Directorate of the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology. The written application must be submitted in German, Italian, or English. It should include precise details of the research questions/objectives and the scientific procedure, as well as a scientific curriculum vitae of the project leader.

Submitted project applications are reviewed by the Directorate and evaluated by the museum’s scientific advisory boards. Evaluation criteria include the scientific quality and relevance of the project, as well as the avoidance of potential risks to the conservation of the objects. Ethical considerations also play a role in decision-making.

Partial approval of projects is possible. Applicants whose project is rejected are entitled to a written justification. The museum's Directorate will then conclude a formal agreement with the project leader. A research project is considered complete by the museum once the final report has been submitted and any remaining sample material has been returned
