Special exhibition UNDER PROPAGANDA is now open!

On Monday, November 24, 2025, UNDER PROPAGANDA – Archaeology between war and peace was officially inaugurated at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology.

The exhibition is the result of an extensive research project carried out in collaboration with national and international archives and museums.

Museum Director Elisabeth Vallazza expressed her delight that curators Andreas Putzer and Günther Kaufmann have succeeded in examining and presenting a particularly controversial chapter of South Tyrolean history in a compact yet striking way.

Numerous and significant archaeological finds recovered between 1920 and 1972 have undergone new scholarly analysis and are being presented to the public—many of them for the first time. A dedicated catalogue will be published next year.

The exhibition also offers exciting opportunities for discovery for children through a playful “Underground” activity.

The temporary exhibition is open to visitors until 8 November 2026 during the museum’s regular opening hours: www.iceman.it
