HÖTZYWOOD in Via Museo/Museumstraße

On 15 September 2018, between 10:00 and 18:00, Museumstraße/Via Museo in Bozen-Bolzano has been renamed HÖTZYWOOD to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology.

A specially marked-out trail along the road and past the shops invited visitors to a journey of discovery brimming with secrets, curiosities, stories and objects, and allowed them to immerse themselves in the unique “saga” surrounding Ötzi with the aid of the images and the language of film.

The amazing story of his discovery, his preservation over thousands of years in the glacier ice, the reconstruction of his living conditions and of his violent death, the trail-blazing scientific discoveries about the history of mankind based on methods developed specifically to study him: Ötzi the Iceman has become a cult figure for our times and in HÖTZYWOOD the story has been picked up and made to come to life by that pre-eminent creator of cult figures: the cinema!

Admission to the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology have been free all day. The South Tyrol band ‘LAEDS’ played music between 11:00 and 13:00, and from 16:00 to 18:00. There was popcorn available, just like in a real open-air cinema! And the restaurants and bars in Museum Road served food and drink with a “New Stone Age” theme.
