Grains of corn
What was on Ötzi’s diet like? By analyzing the content of his stomach, doctors were able to find out what the Iceman ate for his last meal. It was deer meat, ibex meat, grain and vegetables.
Another clue was found in Ötzi’s grass cape, which held grains of einkorn, an important cereal in prehistoric times. People made soup and bread out of it.
Ötzi lived in an age where farming, which had been around since the New Stone Age in Europe (approx. 5000 BC), was becoming more and more common. People also ate wild fruit. And although prehistoric man kept goats, pigs and cattle, he still went hunting.
